Kerry C. Duggan
Founder & CEO
Kerry C. Duggan is a CEO, sustainability expert, corporate board director, angel investor, faculty member, public speaker, executive producer, national political advisor and the former climate advisor to President Joe Biden. In 2017, she founded SustainabiliD, a strategic advisory firm, providing coaching and consulting services to CEOs, C-Suites, and innovative climate tech entrepreneurs with a mission to equitably solve the climate crisis.
At present, Duggan serves on several corporate boards (Perma-Fix (NASDAQ: PESI), Envergia and BlueGreen Water Technologies) along with various climate tech advisory boards (such as Mill, Aclima and ONE); is a faculty member at the University of Michigan’s (U-M) School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS); holds current appointments with the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board (SEAB) and Governor Whitmer’s Council on Climate Solutions.
Previously, she founded the SEAS Sustainability Clinic in Detroit as well as the Michigan Business Sustainability Network (MBSR) at U-M; was on Governor Whitmer’s Growth Council; was on the Biden-Harris Transition Team for the Department of Energy (DOE) Agency Review Team; served as a surrogate for the Biden Campaign, was appointed to the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force on climate; held roles in the Obama-Biden Administration, including as climate policy advisor for then-Vice President Joe Biden and as deputy of President Obama's Detroit task force; held leadership roles at DOE (including as Director of Legislative, Regulatory, and Urban Affairs and as Stakeholder Engagement Director in the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE)).
A daughter of the Great Lakes, she attended Detroit Country Day School, went on to Division I basketball scholarships at St. John’s University (SJU) and later University of Vermont (UVM), where she completed her BS in environmental studies; and earned her MS in natural resource policy & behavior from U-M SEAS.

Kerry C. Duggan is a Founder & CEO, sustainability expert, corporate board director, angel investor, faculty member, national political advisor and the former climate advisor to President Joe Biden.
A strategic integrator, she builds bridges and makes connections across disparate sectors and communities, finding creative new paths for the speed of implementing robust and equitable climate action plans.
In 2017, Duggan founded SustainabiliD, a strategic advisory firm, providing coaching and consulting services to CEOs, C-Suites, and innovative climate tech entrepreneurs with a mission to equitably solve the climate crisis.
Duggan serves on the boards of NASDAQ-listed PESI and the private firm Storm Energia, along with various climate tech advisory boards. She is on Faculty at the University of Michigan’s (U-M) School for Environment and Sustainability (SEAS) and was named the founding Director of the U-M SEAS Sustainability Clinic in Detroit.
In 2021, Duggan was appointed to the Secretary of Energy’s Advisory Board (SEAB). In 2020, Michigan's Governor Whitmer appointed her to the Council on Climate Solutions, and more recently, to the bipartisan Growing Michigan Together Council. Duggan previously served on the Biden-Harris Transition Team for the Energy Department (DOE). She was one of five Biden delegates, alongside Gina McCarthy and Climate Envoy/ Secretary John Kerry, on the Biden-Sanders Unity Task Force.
From 2010-2017, Duggan served in the Obama-Biden Administration, at the White House as climate policy advisor for then Vice President Joe Biden and deputy of President Obama's Detroit task force, and earlier at DOE as Secretary Moniz's Liaison to the City of Detroit and as a Director inside EERE. She came to DOE from national LCV and previously served on the Michigan LCV board.
Duggan was named to Crain’s Detroit Business prestigious “40 Under 40” and the inaugural “Notable Leaders in Sustainability” lists, and her work has been covered in NYT, CNN, E&E News, Bloomberg, Crain’s Detroit Business, The Detroit News & Detroit Free Press, Vox, Huffington Post, Scientific America, GreentechMedia, Inside Climate News, The Japan Times, Grist, WDET, and Politico.
